高雄鳥會於 2024年與美濃區蔬菜產銷班第十八班合作推出友善水雉品牌「護雉蓮盟」,發展「野蓮種芡」技術,將田區營造成水雉能順利繁殖的棲地,水雉替野蓮產業代言,而農民接受水雉築巢孵卵的雙贏,今年已有 3巢成功於野蓮田孵化,雉家野蓮亦已銷售過萬包,可見於北農一市與二市農產拍賣現場。高雄鳥會未來將持續深耕美濃客庄農村,結合在地生態智慧與新的農業技術,朝農藥減量、農地減肥、野蓮廢棄物再利用等永續方向前進,建立具美濃特色且兼顧環境保護及地方經濟發展之循環經濟設計模式。
Kaohsiung Wild Bird Society collaborated with the 18th Vegetable Production and Marketing Group of Meinong District in 2024 to launch the eco-friendly pheasant-tailed jacana brand “Jacana Guardians.” We developed the “Gorgon decorate water snowflake” method, transforming fields into habitats conducive to the successful breeding of jacanas. The jacanas act as ambassadors for the water snowflake industry, and farmers welcome the jacanas nesting and laying eggs in a win-win situation. This year, three nests have successfully hatched in the water snowflake fields, and over 10,000 packages of “Jacana’s water snowflake” have been sold, visible at the auction sites of Taipei Agricultural Products Marketing Corporation. Kaohsiung Wild Bird Society will continue to cultivate the rural areas of Meinong, integrating local ecological wisdom with new agricultural technologies. We aim to reduce pesticide use, decrease farmland fertilization, and reuse water snowflake waste, moving towards sustainable practices. Our goal is to establish a circular economy model that highlights Meinong’s unique characteristics while balancing environmental protection and local economic development.
