石材不同於金屬、塑膠，缺乏回收再製的技術，以往加工邊料多作為道路級配使用，相當可惜。本中心整合礦場、加工、資源化與設計單位，推動「石材循環高值化產業鏈」，將加工邊料、地震損料透過設計開發為高階傢俱、家飾等「高值化產品」。此舉不僅提升材料循環利用的價值，更改變了產業對加工邊料循環應用的思維，創造傳統產業永續發展的新模式。
Unlike metals and plastics, stone lacks well-established recycling and remanufacturing technologies. Traditionally, stone offcuts and processing waste have been used primarily as road base aggregate, resulting in the underutilization of valuable resources. Our center integrates quarries, stone processing, resource recovery, and design partners to develop a high-value circular stone industry chain. Through innovative design, processing offcuts and earthquake-damaged stone are transformed into premium furniture, home décor, and other high-value products. This approach not only maximizes the value of material circularity but also reshapes industry perspectives on the reuse of stone by-products, creating a new and sustainable development model for the traditional stone industry.

石材循環高值化傢俱 High-Value Circular Stone Furniture 實體展出石材加工邊料原始樣貌以及整新後的材料做對比，並實際應用製作為高值化的傢俱（蛇紋石茶几）提升近百倍價值。讓民眾了解循環設計在石材產業的實際應用。 The exhibit showcases the transformation of stone processing offcuts by displaying the original material alongside the renewed material for comparison. These reclaimed stone materials are then crafted into high-value furniture, including a serpentinite coffee table, increasing their value by nearly 100 times. Through this exhibit, visitors can gain a deeper understanding of how circular design is applied in the stone industry to transform waste into premium products and create greater material value. |
